Yes, Magpies’ cakes and cupcakes and wedding cakes are divine. They are rich and sweet and beautiful and full of wonderful surprises. The large new kitchen on Central Street is a modern marvel and a feast for the senses; bright and spacious, full of talented young women and men who often appear to be having fun making fun stuff for others. But it really wasn’t that many years ago that Magpies was just little Peggy Hambright rocking and rolling out of Frank and Hazel’s South Knoxville kitchen. One assumes there are recipes, but like the fancy new kitchen they’re kind of beside the point. Call it whatever you want when you order. What you still get is a bunch of love with frosting on it.
