Kris Hawkins, the 26-year-old guitarist and lead singer for Knoxville heavy metal band Absolute Power, was killed Saturday afternoon in a motorcycle accident on Asheville Highway.
The three-piece band—Hawkins, bassist Jason Alley, and drummer Mikey Rogers—was booked to play The Catalyst on May 27. There’s no word yet on the band’s future; neither Alley nor Rogers could be reached for comment.
The driver of the truck Hawkins collided with, Vincent Garcia, has been charged with vehicular homicide, according to the News Sentinel. Hawkins’ girlfriend, who was riding with him, was taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center.
