Knox County Commissioner Greg “Lumpy” Lambert went to the opera last weekend; he saw Pagliacci at the Tennessee Theatre, part of the Rossini Festival. The last time Lambert attended a cultural event he had a ticket issue and a patron suggested he go down to the bowling alley and watch NASCAR.
But Lambert said everyone at the opera was nice and he enjoyed himself. Though Knox County election administrator Greg Mackay did gig him by observing that “Lumpy” attending an opera might be a sign of the “End Times.”
Lambert said the opera caption translations were better than watching a foreign film, because they paraphrase and you don’t have as hard a time keeping up with the dialogue.
