Every year, The Oxford American, the literary magazine based in Arkansas, releases its Southern Music Issue, which also includes a CD (or two, as it does this year) of overlooked rock, country, folk, and soul from the South. This year’s disc contains the original mix of “For You” by Big Star, a song that in another version appeared on the band’s album Third/Sister Lovers. The magazine includes an original illustration of Big Star’s Alex Chilton and Jody Stephens by Yee-Haw Industries’ Julie Belcher, who says she’s a fan of the band “from years gone back.”
