I, Audience

Leslie , a regular loon who always makes the most of his concert going experiences, yelled: “Y’all just witnessed a classic! I wish I had a video camera!”

Local CD Review

The album’s cover art features a graffiti piece by S.M.O. (More of his and 9-Ether’s works can be seen on display at Agora Gallery on Sutherland Avenue). So hear them rhyme by tuning into the hip-hop Edutainment Show on 90.3 WUTK, every Saturday at 9 p.m. tiME and sPaCE make regular appearances. We just got to ask, when are y’all going to give us a concert?

The Brock Tapes

Of course, any song of Brock’s will carry live as well, as will be demonstrated on Monday, Jan. 22 when she plays a solo show at Barley’s. The tapes will be on sale there, too, so blow the dust out of your tape player before you go.

Some fiddlin’ and a few beers later, we felt comfortable enough to push aside a few chairs up in the balcony, and two-step our way through the whole dang show, including last-minute headliners The Wilders ’, whose Kansas City string playing left nothing, and we mean nothing , to be desired. Great music, high energy, and one helluva live performance.

Go.

Friday, Jan. 19: Go to Old College Inn West. Listen to Wade Hill and Robert Lovett . Order the mixed cheese bings. Don’t question it.

Saturday, Jan. 20: Michelle Malone and Garrison Star ’s names sound like ’70s teeny bopper singer-types who used to be in a band with their entire family, but then they hit puberty and started smoking pot, and the ’rents got mad and kicked ’em out, so they started a solo thing, which turned out to be way more popular than that Brady Bunch-pop BS that they used to do, and tonight they have a gig at the seedy Corner Lounge. Perfect ending. Screw you, Mom and Dad.

Sunday, Jan. 21: At the James R. Cox Auditorium at the University of Tennessee at 4 p.m., you can witness a real, live organ dedication. This organ was donated, but not like that.

Monday, Jan. 22: Jack Bauer never retreats, he just attacks in the opposite direction.

Tuesday, Jan. 23: Dude, I had this weird dream that a band called Hammertime played the WDVX Blue Plate Special. It was one of those twin bills, and Matt Morelock played too, but he only did bluegrass Vanilla Ice covers. Dude. Weird.

Wednesday, Jan. 24: If we were handing out superlatives, we’d give 4620 the award for “Biggest Tease.” We don’t know who’s playing tonight, but we do know there will be “live jazz.”
