Fer Christ's Sake

Local CD Review

Fer Christ's Sake

We know the Dirties are going to rock, because this will be their first show in Knoxville after playing a gig in Louisville, Ky. with The Queers .

Local CD Review

Comprised of a gastroenterologist, an English professor, a vice president of a construction company and a businessman, these old-school rockers decided to punch-up their lives and rekindle their love of vintage rock. We can, at the very least, applaud the effort. They'll never be accused of making music that pushes any boundaries, but who cares? Their sound is tight, with easy blues riffs that just sound incredibly safe. The album is available at the Disc Exchange. Visit www.myspace.com/crossfieldband .

Friday, April 13: If there is an antidote for creepy Friday the 13th juju, it's Christabel & the Jons . If you want to live, go to Market Square for their 5:30 p.m. show. Then, go have dinner at Oodles, where Christa and the boys are playing at 10. It's the only way.

Saturday, April 14: How 'bout getting some take-out and renting a Jean-Claude Van Damme kick-boxing DVD? Um, how 'bout no? As much we enjoy seeing that stacked Belgian frame do the splits over and over and over, we'd rather spend our Saturday night with an extra dirty martini, lobster tail, and the Smokin' Section at Baker-Peter's Jazz Club.

Sunday, April 15: Die! Die! Die! Not a command--a punk band from New Zealand. They'll be at the Pilot Light, as will we so we can ask those Debbie Downers WTF is up with the band name.

Monday, April 16: Mitch Rutman plays guitar better than you could ever hope to, and he'll prove it tonight at Preservation Pub. Yet another reason to hate Mondays.

Tuesday, April 17: Tonight's and tomorrow's Widespread Panic shows have been sold-out for a while. But apparently, "official" after-parties are where it's at. Shotgun a PBR at World Grotto with southern rock jammers Outformation before the crowd arrives.

Wednesday, April 18: There is more to life than increasing its speed.
