Artvandalay , Perfect Orange , The Big Tease , Matgo Primo , and four other bands will perform Saturday, Aug. 20, starting at 8 p.m. at the Humanities Building. The show is the work of the Campus Entertainment Board—an entity that sponsors concerts, speakers and other on-campus events for activities-fee payers and other community members—and Nashville-based Reflection Entertainment, which organized a similar event at Belmont University in 2004.
In addition to taking the sting out of the resumption of classes, the concert foretells the release of Rock U , a compilation CD including tracks by the eight bands performing and two others. The disc will be for sale at the show and later at local CD stores.

Last year’s series spanned six Thursdays, two more than this year’s.
Melissa Makes Good
Though Brett doesn’t shy away from opening her mouth wide to let out a great, quivering note, each of the 12 songs on her album reveal a host of insecurities, worries and heartbreaks. Penning each of the ballad-y, heartfelt songs herself, she also plays piano and acoustic guitar on the album—to be expected, we suppose, from a woman who was named after the sweetest of Allman Brothers songs. Brett’s CD may be purchased at Disc Exchange and accessed online at www.melissabrett.com .
