Congratulations on the fine article by Cari Wade Gervin and Jesse Fox Mayshark analyzing the results from the 2011 Session of the Tennessee Legislature. ["Class of Clowns," cover story, June 2, 2011] One of the things that sticks out prominently is the Legislature's failure to produce jobs after virtually all of the candidates who ran promised to do so. It does not seem that Tennesseans are better off today than before the beginning of the legislative session.
Tennesseans should hold the Legislature responsible with a view toward encouraging productivity and efficiency and avoiding silly antics. Tennesseans should seek out like-minded citizens and join groups to Hold Them Responsible.
HTR groups can pose questions to their legislators and stay in touch to obtain answers. Possible questions are: Have you done anything meaningful to produce jobs? What have you done to improve the economy of Tennessee? What have you done to make Tennesseans safer? What have you done to improve the lot of oppressed or unfortunate Tennesseans? Have you served Tennesseans efficiently, productively, and effectively, and explain what you have done? What have you done to uphold the Constitutions of the State of Tennessee and the United States of America? What have you done to improve the image and reputation of the State of Tennessee? What have you done to improve education at all levels in the State of Tennessee? What have you done to help Tennesseans become healthier? Has anything you have done been significant and effective?
