In state Senate District 7, which encompasses much of downtown, Bearden, Old North Knoxville, Hardin Valley, Farragut, Karns, Powell and the areas along and between Western Avenue and Middlebrook Pike, we are represented by Stacey Campfield. I'll let the author of the Don't Say Gay bill speak for himself: "My understanding is that it is virtually—not completely, but virtually—impossible to contract AIDS through heterosexual sex." Also, "Most people realize that AIDS came from the homosexual community—it was one guy screwing a monkey, if I recall correctly, and then having sex with men." Other favorites include, "Akin wrong? Not so fast," and "The ‘Heterosexual AIDS epidemic' is a manufactured crisis to draw support for the homosexual community." This man represents us and makes decisions on our behalf in an official manner. We're under his leadership for at least another two years. Unless there's will enough for a recall election.
