I want to thank you for the article about the McClung warehouses. I was especially touched when I read about the oldest building which "boasts extremely clean and sharp brickwork."
My great-grandfather, whose name was Silas Gaddis, was a brickmason who died while building the McClung warehouses. In 1890, he fell from the roof of one of the buildings and died three days later as a result of the fall. My grandmother was 3 years old at the time. I'm told he's buried in Love Cemetery.
I will send your article to relatives who would be interested. Thank you again for your work.
