I am honored and humbled to receive this award from Metro Pulse and its readers. [Best Knoxvillian award in the Best of Knoxville, May 22, 2014]
My family and I love living in Knoxville, and I've said time and time again that there's no better place in America to raise a family. My wife Barb and our three boys have built great relationships and friendships within this wonderful community that will last a lifetime.
Our passionate fan base is the best in the nation, and every opportunity I get to interact with them reminds me how special Vol Nation is and what a privilege it is to be the head football coach at Tennessee.
Our student-athletes understand the importance not only of succeeding academically and on the playing field but also in giving back to the community of Knoxville and the entire East Tennessee region. We emphasize this daily in our football program, and we will continue to make great strides in making our team part of the fabric of the city and region in more than just what happens on fall Saturdays.
I believe great things are on the horizon for our university and our football program, and once again, thank you very much for this honor, which I accept on behalf of my family and our entire team. Thanks again and Go Vols!
