Jeff Mangum, the mercurial mastermind of '90s indie darlings Neutral Milk Hotel, has just announced tour dates for early 2013, which will include a stop at the Bijou Theatre on Friday, Feb. 1.
After the dissolution of Neutral Milk Hotel in 1998, Mangum retreated from public performance and recording, only sporadically contributing to compilation projects and rare solo appearances. Since 2008, though, he’s been increasingly visible, and has played more and more classic Neutral Milk Hotel material, culminating with a full set at the New Jersey All Tomorrow’s Parties festival and an Occupy Wall Street concert at Zuccotti Park in 2011 and a handful of 2012 festival appearances.
