I have been saying this for years and it has been falling on deaf ears. I worked in marketing for Delta Air Lines and as the marketing projects coordinator for Tri-Cities Regional Airport, TN/VA for four years. Knoxville does NOT fit the business model for one of these low fare air carriers. We do not have the population volume, the population in the drawing area, and we are too close geographically to other areas that already offer the service. But no one cares about my opinion or that of others like me. You want to do something good for the community to get people here? Support a project that will connect Knoxvillians more quickly with one of the cities that already has the low fare service. I bet you could even get a low fare carrier to help partner on that project with you.
