If you put lipstick on a pig, it is still a pig. The James White Parkway Extension was a bad idea in 2002, and it seems an even worse idea today. The Modified Green Alternative does not alter that reality. I live in northeast Blount County and have been familiar with South Knox for more years than I care to count. Chapman Highway does not need a bypass-- certainly not one that would traverse rugged wooded terrain full of sinkholes. The area in question would far better serve the people of our region as the "urban wilderness" already under development than as another stretch of unnecessary pavement. Any proposed highway project here will be VERY costly, and will have negative impacts on both local businesses and the environment. I can't figure out who stands to benefit.
