Be assured that Peter Max is very much still productive and wealthier than ever. Besides the numerous, particularly identifiable portraits of celebrities his current path focuses on his interpretation of classic artworks. He recently participated in a gallery reception in Nashville and I was able to discuss his history with his associates at his largest gallery in Wailea, Maui. I suggest those south of 40 and curious of his iconic style study images available on major search engines. It's only when you view the actual brush strokes that one realizes the intricacies of his touch.
Many successors were influenced by his imagination, as was no doubt the UT artists responsible for the mural. Wouldn't Knoxville be served and the pride of the World's Fair be evident to restore the mural for the aesthetic of the community and delight of travelers along the interstates.
