I was born in Oak Ridge in 1945 and grew up there. My cousin in Minneapolis contacted me a few weeks ago about the picture taken by Mr. Westcott called "Shift Change" posted on this site and showing the workers coming out of the Y-12 plant during the war. She saw it on the cover of the new book, "Girls of Atomic City", by Denise Kiernan. She is almost certain that her mother, my aunt, who worked at Y-12 during 1944-45, is the woman to the extreme left on the front row. My aunt Jo apparently never talked much about her time in Oak Ridge, even to her daughter. I wonder if there would be any way to find out who the people in this photo were. The photo does not look posed, so I suppose no record of who they were was made at that time. It's so long ago now, that many of them, like my aunt, are no longer alive.
