Regrettably, as a self-confessed, complete and 100%, coffee-snob (who visits Old-City Java by choice and Golden Roast because it is much closer to the office) not once has a visit to Coffee and Chocolate has produced a cup of even palatable let alone comparable coffee. They have a decent machine and grinder, they should be able to produce "ok" shots but when I am in the 'hood I visit Cafe 4, whose shots are still fairly poor on my global scale.
What is fascinating to me is that as much as I love to complain about Knoxville in term of its restaurant, bar, and entertainment scene, its coffee culture is top-notch... as long as you go to where the coffee is first-rate. I worship the ground on which Old-City has taken hold as the investment in La Marzocco and Counter-Culture means shots and coffee in this small burg are better than those available in San Francisco and New York. I cannot say how excited I am every time I enter old-city... my nerves a-quiver in preparation for the deliciousness about to reach my tongue.
There are locations which I have not visited (remedy, vienna's home location, etc) but it remains simply embarrassing that some in this town make such a mockery of the delicious drink as they do.
