Without a doubt one of the few Knoxville restaurants that could compete on a national or global scale. Authentic Bavarian cuisine that stands up to the best in Europe. Food prepared to order which ensures not only excellent quality but also allows for properly relaxed dining...there is actually time to savour the food and relax between courses. Yes, at busy times it may take a little longer but better that than bad food served fast. Snitzel, liverwurst brot, and any of the chef's specials standout (lamb shanks are a real winner). Prices are consistent with the quality. The servers and chef are both professional and yet friendly and enjoy conversing with the patrons without the artificial introductions that curse so many waitstaff. And while some may describe the interior as garish (red, purple and baroque interior - think cherubs and stern faced princes), it lends a unique ambiance that defies description and the opera music in the background completes the experience. The wine list leaves something to be desired, but you can bring your own for minimal ($10) corkage. Good German beers on tap. Also, a small bar that allows for a quick beer and the best goulash soup this side of the Black Forest. On a Global scale 8 out of 10. On a Knoxville scale 9 out of 10. Ya, das ist gut.
