2003 Knoxville, TN

Artvandalay began as an improvisational music project in a house-basement during the summer of 2003 in Knoxville, TN. While a simple summation of Artvandalay's influences and sound characteristics may be impossible it will suffice to say that they are seeking to bridge the gap between the jamband scene of Phish and The Grateful Dead with the progressive rock sounds of bands like Yes and King Crimson. Simply put, we aim to create music with as little rules or restrictions as possible. Artvandalay has no front man, every member contributes to the songwriting process and is encouraged to step up to the microphone. In 2006, Artvandalay released it's first full-length studio album "Fat Accomplice", produced by Knoxville's own Brock Henderson. A concept album of sorts the seventy-four minute disc flows from start to finish as one continual piece of music. Other accomplishments for the band include a spot at the 2006 Bonnaroo Music Festival as well as a recent appearance on our Sundown in the City concert series. Artvandalay is currently playing around the southeast and writing their next album.
